Eppie the Pew Baby Doll

The Pew Baby doll originated during the days when family worship at the community church was just that---family worship. The family would all sit together in the worship service (many times on the pew designated for that family), and little girls were allowed to carry dolls with them that would not disrupt the service. These were usually homemade dolls that were constructed of all soft materials so they would not make noise on the wooden pew. They became known as pew babies.

Children like short, happy names for their favorite things, and "Eppie" is the short form of the Biblical name Hephzibah, which means, "My delight is in her." Thus, we hope Eppie will be one of your child's favorite "Things of Joy."
